We've encountered and advised on nearly every type of machine.
Sponmech offer on-site machinery guarding surveys at cost to businesses who are looking for advice on what they need to do for their machine to be compliant and safe.
If you are unsure whether your machinery meets current machine safety standards, Sponmech can help you. It is often best practice to order a PUWER 98 inspection survey and report from us.
However, for quicker and cost-free general machinery guarding advice, we recommend that you send us photos and videos of your machines in action, and we can usually quote from photos. Guarding consultations can also be arranged via video call on Zoom or Teams. This replaces the need for a visit where general guarding advice is needed. If you would prefer us to attend your site or factory in person, this is a chargeable service.
We have been conducting machinery safety surveys across the UK for over 40 years for varying industries.
Business owners have a legal duty to protect workers from accidents that may arise in the workplace. The absence of a guard on certain machines could be fatal.
Every piece of machinery in any workplace should be risk assessed. If your machinery has not been inspected or assessed by a qualified health and safety professional, you could be putting your workers’ safety and your business at risk.
Whether you've recently invested in new machinery that requires PUWER 98 inspection, or you're looking to upgrade older equipment to meet current guarding standards, Sponmech is here to help.
We will always consider your operational requirements when advising on machine guarding compliance.
Booking a machine safety survey with one of our dedicated, NEBOSH certified safety engineers will give you both the peace of mind and the safety compliance advice that you’ll need.
Sponmech are manufacturers of the finest machine guarding systems in the United Kingdom. You can trust us. We’ve been doing it for over 40 years.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) estimates that inadequate machine guarding causes over 40,000 injuries every year.
Some of those injuries can be fatal. In order to prevent these incidents from happening, the HSE recommends that employers should "take effective measures to prevent access to dangerous parts of machinery".
Regulation 11(1) of The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 states: Every employer shall ensure that means are taken in accordance with paragraph (2) which are effective.
A. To prevent access to any dangerous part of machinery or to any rotating stock-bar; or
B. To stop the movement of any dangerous part of machinery or rotating stock-bar before any part of a person enters a danger zone
